Type of computer devices
1) Input devices In the computer devices, an input device is a part of computer hardware device that is used to provide data and control signals to an information processing system such as a computer or information equipment. The input devices can be named as follows: E.g.: - Keyboard, Mouse, Mic, Scanner, RFIDBar code reader, Camera, touch screen, memory chips reader and joysticks etc. 2) Output devices In the computer devices, an output device is a part of computer hardware device that is used to receive data and commands from an information processing system (such as a computer or information equipment) in order to perform a task. This leads to the results of data processing carried out by the information processing system which converts the electronically generated information into human-readable form. The output devices can be named as follows: E.g.: - Speaker, Monitor, Projector, Printer and Platter etc. 3) Processing device In the computer devices, a processing device is a part of component in a computer that manages the storage and retrieval of information. Typical examples of processing devices include central-processing units, computer motherboards, network cards, graphics-processing units and sound cards. The processing device is known as below: E.g.: - CPU- (Control Processing Unit). 4) Storage devices The Data storage is the recording of information/data in a storage device. Recording is accomplished by virtually any form of energy. DNA and RNA, handwriting, phonographic storing, magnetic tape, memory chips and optical discs are all examples of storage devices. Electronic data storage requires electrical power to store and retrieve data. Data storage in a digital machine-readable medium is called digital data. Computer data storage is one of the core functions of a general-purpose computer. Electronic documents can be stored in a much less space than paper documents. Barcodes and magnetic ink character recognition (MICR) are two ways of recording machine-readable data on a paper. The storage devices are mainly categorized in two forms as it’s following. A) Primary storage device Note: - The primary storage device is temporarily or permanently stored the information/data in a device that they are known as below: I) Temporary storage device The Random-access memory (RAM) is a form of computer data storage that stores data and machine code currently being used. A random-access memory device allows data items to be read or written in almost the same amount of time irrespective of the physical location of data inside the memory. This is the reason why, RAM is temporary memory. II) Permanent storage device The Read-only memory (ROM) is a type of non-volatile memory used in computers and other electronic devices. It is mainly used to store firmware (software that is closely tied to specific hardware, and unlikely to need frequent updates) or application software in plug-in cartridges. Strictly, read-only memory refers to memory that is hard-wired, such as diode matrix and the later mask ROM (MROM), which cannot be changed after manufacture. Recently, ROM has come to include memory that is read-only in normal operation but can still be reprogrammed in some way. Erasable programmable read-only memory (EPROM) and electrically erasable programmable read-only memory (EEPROM) can be erased and re-programmed, but usually this can only be done at relatively slow speeds, may require special equipment to achieve, and is typically only possible a certain number of times. The permanent storage device is known as below: E.g.: - ROM (Read Only Memory)/BIOS (Basic Input Output System). B) Secondary storage device Secondary storage devices are primarily referred to a storage device that serves as an addition to the computer's primary storage, RAM and cache memory. Typically, secondary storage allows for the storage of data ranging from a few bits to petabytes. These devices store virtually all programs and applications stored on a computer, including the operating system, device drivers, software applications and general user data and more. Some of the secondary storage devices are internal to the computer such as the hard disk drive, compact disk drive and floppy disk drive but floppy disk drive is not being used any more. The secondary storage device is known as below: E.g.: - Hard disk, Floppy disk, CD- (Compact Disk), Pen/Flash drives, Memory/Microchips, cassettes/Magnetic tape, DVD- (Digital Video Disk) and External Hard Drives etc.
