THEMES, SLIDE SIZE, FORMAT BACKGROUND

Themes:
A theme is a set of design elements you can apply to slides in your presentation. Microsoft PowerPoint 2016 includes many carefully crafted themes you can use to give your PowerPoint presentations a professional look. Each theme includes these basic components such as:
 
  • Colors: Four colors to use for text or backgrounds and six accent colors.
  • Fonts: A heading font and a regular text font.
  • Background styles: Background colors and effects such as patterns or gradient fills.
  • Design effects: A set of elements such as bullet and line styles.
 
To apply a theme to an entire presentation, click the theme in the Themes group on the Design tab. If the theme you want isn’t visible, scroll to display it. Click the down arrow in the Theme gallery to display an expanded themes list.
 
Note: If you have any question about applying themes to slides, please state all your questions in comment box.




Slide Size:
When you want to change the slide sizes, you would be changed either with Standard(4:3) or Widescreen(16:9) and also there is another option Custom Size as well. When MS-PowerPoint is unable to automatically scale your content, it prompts you with two options:
 
  • Maximize: Select this option to increase the size of your slide content when you are scaling to a larger slide size. Choosing this option could result in your content not fitting on the slide.
 
  • Ensure Fit: Select this option to decrease the size of your content when scaling to a smaller slide size. This could make your content appear smaller, but you’ll be able to see all content on your slide.
 
Q:
How to change current slides style to Widescreen(16:9) in the presentation?
Select Design tab =>
Click Slide Size tool =>
Click Widescreen.

Format Background:

Microsoft PowerPoint 2016 provides several default Slide Background Styles, much like the previous two versions. Apart from these Styles, you can continue changing the default Slide Background to something else such as a solid color or gradient, a pattern or a texture, or, even a picture. In this tutorial, we'll explore these options that can be accessed within the Format Background pane.
 
Important: If you make any changes beyond the default Background Styles are changes that override the active Theme of your presentation. To get back to the defaults, just choose any one of the default Background Styles again, this effectively acts as a Reset option.
 
Options within the Format Background task pane are explained below, and you can use any of these options to change your Slide Background:
 
Solid Fill:
In PowerPoint-2016, adds a solid color background to your slide, you can use any of the Theme colors, Standard colors, or any other color of your choice.
 
Gradient Fill:
You can use gradient fill to apply multi colors together to the slides as a gradient style. Applies a gradient as a slide background, a gradient is a blend of two or more colors merging into each other.
 
Picture or Texture Fill:
It allows you to use a picture or a texture as a background.
 
Pattern Fill:
You can choose a pattern to your slide from 48 different patterns contained within Microsoft PowerPoint-2016.
 
Hide Background Graphics:
If your Slide Background includes graphics which you want to hide for printing purposes, or any other reason, you can select this check-box. Although the background graphics will remain part of your presentation, it will be hidden from view.

How to hide the background graphics that is already applied to slides by theme?
Select Design tab =>
Click Format Background tool =>
Select Hide Background Graphics check box.
